How it works

The nice-weather score (0–100) averages every month of the year: it drops the further the afternoon high is from 75°F (24°C), and with rain and muggy humidity, the same measure behind our best-weather-by-month lists. Climate is 1991–2020 monthly averages from TerraClimate.

Cost of living is the World Bank price level of household consumption (PPP conversion factor over exchange rate) (2023–2025, CC BY 4.0), relative to the US. Outside the US every city shares its country's level, so cities in one country differ only by weather. US cities use their metro area's BEA Regional Price Parities by metro area (2024).

Ranked: cities of 500,000 people or more. Countries under a US State Department “Do not travel” advisory are left out.
